Bell Long Ranger

The Bell Long Ranger is the stretched Jet Ranger, and in the Orlando market that extra cabin is usually the whole reason a client picks it over the shorter aircraft. Six seats, a proper club arrangement in back, and only a small step up in cost from the four-seat option.

Bell stretched the JetRanger cabin into the 206L LongRanger to carry up to six passengers on a longer fuselage. The single Allison turbine is the same family as the JetRanger but resized for the increased weight. Parts support is wide. [EXTERNAL_LINK]

Why the Bell Long Ranger Fits Orlando

A facing club of four is the arrangement that makes this aircraft useful for the Orlando business market. Four executives connecting from a resort meeting at KISM into a jet at KORL can actually talk on the transfer, which on a leg that replaces a 45-minute drive is the reason to book a helicopter at all.

Snowbird groups of five or six moving between Central Florida properties and a waiting turboprop are the other routine use. Bags still need planning, and we confirm the baggage arrangement with the operator rather than promising a number on the brochure.

Range and speed are essentially the Jet Ranger’s, so this is still a short-sector aircraft within the Orlando metro area. For longer or overwater legs toward the Bahamas or the Caribbean, a twin like the Agusta 109 or the Sikorsky S-76 is the right recommendation.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
